Michel Jean Legrand was a French Composer, Arranger, Conductor, Jazz Pianist and Singer. A remarkably Prolific Artist, he created over 200 Film and Television Scores along with numerous songs. His collaborations with French New Wave Director, Jacques Demy, including The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, 1964 and The Young Girls of Rochefort, 1967, earned him his first Academy Award Nomination. He won his first Oscar for the song The Windmills of Your Mind from The Thomas Crown Affair, 1968, followed by wins for Summer of ’42, 1971 and Barbra Streisand’s, Yentl, 1983.
