Special Generation is a Vocal Quintet made up of Fernando Carter, Maurice Dowdell, Maquet Robinson, Charles Salter and Kendrick Washington. Formed in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1989, The Group signed with MC Hammer’s Record Label, Bust It Records, a subsidiary of Capitol Records. Their debut album, Take It To The Floor, was among the earliest New Jack Swing Albums to achieve Success.
Take It To The Floor reached Number 17 on Billboard’s Top R & B Album Chart. It’s Lead Single, Love Me Just for Me, hit Number 91 on the Billboard Hot 100 and climbed to Number 8 on the Top R & B Singles Chart. The Follow Up, Spark of Love, peaked at Number 26 on the Hot R & B Singles Chart. The Album also featured other singles like One Nite Lover and You Are Everything, with the latter reaching Number 90 on the US Hot R & B Singles Chart!!!
