RARE, VINTAGE, 1974 OPEE CHEE, AL ARBOUR, NEW YORK ISLANDERS HOCKEY CARD!!!
Alger Joseph Arbour was a Canadian Hockey Player, Coach and Executive. He ranks Seventh in Games Coached in N.H.L. History and Eighth in All Time Wins. While Coaching The New York Islanders, he captured Four Straight Stanley Cups from 1980 to 1983 and Set a Record 19 Consecutive Playoff Series Wins in 1984. His 740 victories with the Islanders remain the Most by a Coach with a Single Team in NHL History.
Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Arbour played Amateur Hockey as a Defenseman with the Windsor Spitfires of the O.H.L. before starting his Professional Career with the Detroit Red Wings in 1953. He was traded to the Chicago Black Hawks in 1958 where he helped them win the Stanley Cup in 1961. He then joined the Toronto Maple Leafs for Five Seasons, winning another Cup in 1962, before being selected by the St. Louis Blues in the 1967 Expansion Draft, where he spent his final four years as a Player!!!
