RARE, VINTAGE, 1974 OPEE CHEE, PHIL MALONEY VANCOUVER CANUCKS HOCKEY CARD!!!

Philip Francis Anthony Maloney was a Canadian Professional Hockey Player and Coach. He played in the NHL with the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Black Hawks between 1949 and 1960. The rest of his career was spent in various Minor Leagues, mostly with the Vancouver Canucks of the Western Hockey League. After retiring, he moved into Coaching, leading the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL from 1974 to 1977 and also served as their General Manager from 1974 to 1976.

Maloney spent 14 Years with the Vancouver Canucks in the Western Hockey League, retiring after the 1969 / 1970 Season just before the team joined the NHL. He left as the franchise’s All Time Scoring Leader with 923 Points and had a Stand Out Season in 1960 / 1961, racking up 102 Points with the Buffalo Bisons.

Later, he joined the NHL Canucks as an Assistant Coach, eventually taking over as Head Coach late in the 1973 / 1974 Season, guiding The Team through 37 games. In the 1974 / 1975 Season, he led them to their first Smythe Division title and the First Playoff Appearance in Team History.

Maloney Crossed Over on February 21st., 2020, at the age of 92.
